The 11th International Scientific and Practical Conference «Subsoil Use in Ukraine: Investment Prospects» is currently taking place in Lviv.

On the first day of the conference, thematic discussions took place on improving regulatory activities concerning subsoil use in Ukraine, the challenges faced by subsoil users and ways to address them, and the high-quality training of personnel for the extractive industry under martial law.

Stepan Kozytskyi spoke during the panel discussion «Ukraine’s Energy Independence: Challenges under Martial Law».

The head of the Zakhidnadraservis Group spoke about expanding the technological base during the war.

«We are the only company in Ukraine to operate an LWD system, which allows us to survey a well in real time and improve the quality of exposure of productive horizons. We were the first in Ukraine to acquire a wireless seismic system, the first to carry out 3D seismic surveys in the Carpathians, and we are continuing our research», — said Stepan Kozytskyi.

The speaker also reported on the results of the implementation of the subsoil project — a production-sharing agreement (PSA) within the Uhnivska block between the State of Ukraine and WELL KO LLC, part of the Zakhidnadraservice Group.

«During the first exploration phase of the programme, 483 km² of 3D seismic surveys were carried out, 20 km of gas pipeline were laid, two gas treatment plants were installed, and 14 wells up to 2,000 m deep were drilled, nine of which proved successful. In total, around 350 million cubic metres of gas have been produced in this area. The first phase of the Agreement has been 100 per cent completed. We are currently working with the relevant state authorities to move on to the second phase. I hope 2027 will be a productive year in this regard», — the speaker concluded.
